“Hello, Willow.”

“Hey, Ronin.” Willow smiled at the bird shifter. “Dropping off your timesheet?”

“Yes.” He handed her the paper before leaning against the desk. “How are you?”

“I’m good, thanks. How’s it going with that sex-tart vampire? Whew, she’s something else, huh?”

“You have no idea,” Ronin sighed. “Swear to God, it’s like she has six hands.”

Willow laughed. “Mal said this morning that Mavina and her family left for a vacation in Italy this week. I bet you’re happy to have a break.”

Ronin nodded before glancing at Kat’s closed office door. “It seems kind of quiet in here for a Monday,” he said.

A small smile crossed Willow’s face. “Mal and Bishop are meeting with a client and will be back in about half an hour and Kat left early.”

“Oh?” Ronin’s voice was deceptively casual. “She have an appointment?”

“No,” Willow said. “Actually she won’t be back until Thursday.”

Ronin glanced at her door again. “Where is she?”

“She’s at home and will be for the next two days,” Willow said pointedly.

A strange look crossed Ronin’s face – a combination of anger and desire – and Willow frowned at him. “Ronin? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he said with none of his usual cheeriness. “See you later, Willow.”
